Programs for Men
Men also suffer, often silently, the symptoms of hormone loss and/or imbalance. This state of being is called andropause and can be life altering. Symptoms of hormone imbalances in men include:
- Low libido
- Weight gain, especially around the middle
- Loss of muscle mass in the pectoral muscles (development of breasts)
- Poor sleep
- Brain fog/poor memory
- Athletic goals
- Healthy aging
- Overall health and longevity
Traditionally men, if they even discuss this with their doctor, will undergo only a blood test for testosterone. If testosterone is in the low but normal range often it is untreated. In the low range, testosterone cream and/or shots are given. More often than not no significant improvement is felt. This testosteron, given to a man in a dysregulated state, will often be converted to other hormones such as cortisol and estrogen and can even produce undesirable effects.
Using the research based functional medicine model of Balanced Interventional Wellness™, our team has created the ultimate personalized program to address these hormone imbalances and deficiencies in both women AND men.
Our trademarked Balanced Interventional Wellness model, strives to uncover the root causes of symptoms and correct them. This approach enables us to help our patients minimize their medications, resolve their symptoms and achieve optimal health, wellness, and hormone balance.
Because hormone balance can only be achieved when the whole body is balanced, a full wellness evaluation is necessary whenever hormones are evaluated. The body’s system of hormones not only includes the sex hormones, but leptin (satiety), ghrelin (hunger), insulin and cortisol, to name a few. These hormones are strongly influenced by gut health, diet, nutrient deficiencies, exercise, stress, and sleep patterns. We consider all of these factors in these evaluations.
Male hormone visits begin with an initial consult with Dr. Ginsberg. In order to evaluate complete male hormones thoroughly, a general wellness consultation is required to determine each individual’s specific needs. Due to the strong connection between hormones, proper nutrition and gut health, follow up visits are often recommended with Dr. Ginsberg and one of our nutritional therapists.
At your wellness and physician visit various functional blood, saliva and/or urine tests may be required. These tests are separate and not included in the cost of the visit. Visit Hormone Balance Testing for more information.
